Web Site Redesign
- Choose a site and submit a proposal for redesign as you would for a client -- pdf document
- Create document giving the client 8 comps to choose from, list the advantadges and disadvantages for each design -- pdf document
- Choose a final design. Create 5 corresponding style guides. Choose 1. Explain your choices to the client. -- pdf document
- Decide on color pallette and visual elements. Consult client on your choices and request feedback before moving on with design choices. -- pdf document
- Create a Usability Test. Conduct usability testing on at least 3 people. Analyze the results. -- pdf document
- Create the final proposal for your client. -- pdf document
Course Description
An introduction to the process of designing graphics for use on the screen. Students will formulate design projects specifically for delivery mediums such as kiosks, the Internet, and disc. Parameters relating to color, resolution access speed, and composition will mediate the design process. Students will employ principles of interactive design appropriate for the client and target audience.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to distinguish between well designed and poorly designed user interfaces.
- Convey different factors that go into designing an interface.
- Explain various metaphors and models.
- Define cycles of interaction and interactive performance.
- Execute techniques useful in interface design
- Integrate principles of composition.
- Articulate and solve basic problems of form and function.
- Design for specific delivery methods.
- Select typography based on functional criteria
- Apply principles of visual literacy of design.
- Balance readability, legibility and design considerations
- Select typography consistent with technical capabilities and constraints.
